"I've always had trouble with combination safes, so I wanted a digital one. Biometrics seemed like a logical choice to me—why struggle with a combination when your finger can do the job? Also, I needed one that my wife could open, and she's terrible with combinations.
This safe seemed perfect. Some reviews were negative, but I took a chance with Prime shipping. It arrived in two days, albeit the UPS driver seemed annoyed by the weight. The packaging was a bit beat up, but the safe was well-protected by foam.
The only issue was a fallen Barska emblem, easily fixable. I registered our fingerprints and disabled the loud biometric lock beeps. I secured it to the wall, essential to prevent accidents, especially around kids.
Inside, it accommodated my rifles, pistols, and ammo with adjustable shelves. The pistol holder on the door was a nice touch.
However, larger scoped rifles might need adjustments. It's not a heavy-duty safe or fireproof, but it fits my needs, keeping my firearms secure and away from my kids.
I love the biometric lock, and despite its limitations, I'm giving it five stars. It's great for a modest gun collection and provides the security I wanted. "I read numerous reviews before deciding to go for it. I've had experience with gun safes/lockers and wanted something sturdy yet easy to move as I'll be relocating. I'm quite pleased with this safe, though I'm quite critical in my assessment, knowing no product is flawless.
The box seemed small on arrival. I managed to handle it on my own, and while it's heavy, moving it is doable. They provide large bolts for wall attachment, something I plan to do. The locker is relatively compact; it claims to hold 8 rifles, depending on how they're stored.
Typically, I store rifles barrel down, allowing for more space. I'm yet to test this, but I believe I can fit 9-10 with barrels down. The inside door pockets are a nice touch for extra storage. There's a shelf I might need to remove for longer rifles, but it's not a big issue.
However, the separate locking box at the top is a letdown, easily pried open with a flat head screwdriver. The main lock is sturdy for a locker and serves as a good deterrent. Having been in law enforcement for over 30 years, I'm content with its security level. I've taken additional security measures for my gun room, making it highly secure.
This locker does require batteries (AA) despite the misleading listing. The door does bend slightly when pulled, indicating the metal isn't very thick. It's not the sturdiest, but it fits my needs well, especially considering the price compared to heavy-duty safes.
You can't use both the fingerprint and combination features simultaneously, but it's not a deal-breaker. If you plan to just place it without additional security measures, be cautious. It's vulnerable to being moved with the right tools, so ensure it's well-placed and secured.

"I've seen that some people say that the fingerprint scanner allows all fingerprints. That is not true! You have to read the instructions, and I don't think those people are!
The fingerprint scanner works, it's just that you have to place your finger on the scanner in the exact same way you had it record your fingerprint; otherwise, it won't work!
Moreover, some say the walls are "paper-thin" or "the same thickness as a filing cabinet." I would say it's a little thicker than a filing cabinet, and I know because I have it placed next to my filing cabinet. I used a caliper to measure, and it is 1/16th of an inch thick.
To visualize that, think of a penny. 1/16th of an inch is about 2.8mm, and a penny is about 2.5mm. So slightly thicker, although probably not visible with the naked eye.
Now that that's out of the way, this safe is a good safe for the money. It's definitely not high-end, so if you want one of those, then save up.
This safe is a bit wobbly, as others have said. It is supposed to be bolted to the floor and wall. I cannot do that because I rent my home and cannot damage the floor or wall. So I put some weights down on the bottom, and it works great! I also sandwiched it between my filing cabinet and my desk, so it stands still. Like I said, supposed to be bolts but what I did works too. So either plan on bolting it or weigh it down.
Know that this isn't 100% secure, and nothing is. This safe is good for keeping kids out (which is what I got it for) and most thieves. I could see that if someone was strong and determined enough they may be able to break into it with tools or carry it if more than one person.
However, with my home security system, which included audio and visual surveillance, I'd know right away and I would alert law enforcement.
So if you want a decent safe, mostly worth the money, and you know what you are getting, AND you carefully read the instructions, then this is a great choice. If you want Fort Knox, then you need to get something else. “I decided to purchase this safe in search of secure storage at a reasonable price, and it has proven to be an excellent value. The safe arrived promptly and was impressively packaged with foam protection, sturdy cardboard inserts, and more. However, due to its weight, which is around 120 pounds, I suspect it encountered some rough handling during shipping.
Despite the weight, the finish was in good shape with no noticeable scratches. There was a minor dent or ding, likely a result of the shipping process, but it's hardly noticeable, and I understand it's not the fault of the manufacturer given the well-done packaging. Larger and heavier items like this safe are prone to a bit of handling stress during transit, which is understandable.
Overall, I received the safe in great condition and am genuinely pleased with its quality. The welding is excellent, leaving no visible seams, and the electronics worked flawlessly. Programming the lock was a straightforward process.
The steel thickness deserves a commendable rating, about 4 stars. While it's not as heavy gauge as some higher-end 'safes,' it surpasses the thickness of many gun 'cabinets' I've come across. It aligns perfectly with what I expected in this price range.
To my pleasant surprise, the package also included a small safe, a thoughtful bonus. Both safes were easily bolted to the floor (or shelf for the small one) and the wall for added security. I added larger washers to further enhance the secure bolting.
This safe comfortably accommodates up to 5 long guns, even with scopes on a couple of them. However, fitting scopes on all 5 might be a tight fit. I'm yet to test if it can hold a shotgun with a 28" barrel, but it does host a couple of handguns in Velcro holsters on the inner door effectively—Velcro sticks great to the inner door 'carpet.'
I particularly appreciate the recessed door design when closed, making prying extremely difficult. Even if the hinges were somehow compromised, the door's recessed position would prevent it from opening.
There was a minor issue with the inner storage compartment door (key) lock on my large safe, which was swiftly and satisfactorily resolved by RPNB's excellent customer service. I was pleasantly surprised by their responsiveness. This reaffirms my confidence in buying from them again.
In summary, my goal was to find a secure option at a reasonable price, and this safe perfectly meets my needs. While it's not fireproof or as heavy-duty as a more expensive safe, it surpasses the typical gun 'cabinets' in thickness and quality. “I received the item earlier than expected, and I was highly impressed with the level of packaging. It was wrapped with 3/4-inch thick cardboard, had protective caps on the top and bottom of the box, sturdy metal and cardboard corner guards, heavy-duty stapling on the outer box, secure plastic straps, and foam spacer blocks. The cardboard had minimal damage, and the item itself was in perfect condition. Opening it was relatively easy.
It falls somewhere between a thick 'safe' and a thin metal 'cabinet'—more like a solid heavy-duty locker with a door resembling that of a safe. It possesses a good overall weight, not excessively heavy but solid enough. The walls are sturdy with minimal flex. The hinge operates smoothly, and the handle and lock mechanism are also smooth. The 5 bolts engage seamlessly—3 on the side, 1 on top, and 1 on the bottom of the door. The handle has a slight play, which seems normal, offering a consistent action for opening and closing.
The door opens to about 125 degrees, limited by the door's thickness to approximately 8 inches.
In terms of capacity, it can comfortably hold 3-4 guns at most, along with a bit of ammo or accessories. If you don't mind them moving around a bit, you could squeeze in more. Personally, I have a 12g, 20g, and a 10/22 without scopes, and it's just right. Any smaller and it would be too tight. The dimensions are accurately stated.
The electronic keypad works well, though 4 AA batteries are not included. The buttons are easy to press and responsive, accompanied by a beep upon pressing. Setting the code is a simple process, and there are indicator lights for low battery warnings. An external battery pack is provided to access the safe if the main batteries die. An alarm is triggered after 3 failed code attempts or if the handle is shaken, but this can be disarmed with the correct code.
The safe comes with barrel-style auxiliary keys for easy access, a Velcro orange pouch to hold the keys, 4 bolts and washers, nuts for secure installation, and a hex key for removing the plate that hides the keyhole and, I assume, for installing the support bolts.
The safe remains stable and doesn't tip when the door is opened, but using the bolts is a wise precaution. It also doesn't wobble. The shelf, although slightly disappointing, is removable, allowing space for longer barrels. The shelf hooks and rests on metal cleats, staying in place without screws, although there are holes if needed. There's enough room on the shelf for some ammo or a pistol and other small accessories. If you have only 3 guns, you can store items on the side within the main compartment.
While the safe's interior isn't fully carpeted, the bottom has a thin layer. I used a foam block from the packaging to temporarily rest stocks on, preventing deformation of shotgun recoil pads. This also provides better support for the stocks, preventing pivoting, thanks to the foam barrel rests. The foam adheres well to the wall and metal cleat, serving its purpose adequately. I plan to pad other parts, like the door frame's edge, to further protect the guns during access and storage.
One notable aspect is the lack of an internal light, so I intend to install an inexpensive motion-activated light.
In conclusion, this safe met my expectations precisely. It offers excellent quality for the price, ensuring durability, gun protection, and deterring anyone without heavy tools from accessing it. The price is unbeatable for what you receive. "Let's be honest: if someone with a large sledgehammer wanted in, they could bash their way in. But who is going to break into a house with a sledgehammer? Even if you did use a sledgehammer it would still be a pain in the rear to get in. It keeps honest people out, and it's sturdy.
I got it screwed against the wall using two 1/4" bolts into the 2x4s. Also, as a tip, I cut away the trim at the bottom of the wall so it could fit plumb against the wall. I tried shaking it and it's strong and tight. I got a Keltec carbine, AR15 Springfield Armory, and a few pistols with ammo. Overall I like it. "Okay, let's get something out of the way here. This is not a heavy-duty safe. It is not designed to be. If that is what you are looking for, you will need to spend a lot more. That was not what I was looking for. I needed a safe that would keep my kids away from my long guns, while still allowing me to get to them quickly in an emergency. This fits the bill. It is about 90lbs, which took me some time to get it to my second-floor master bedroom.
I was very impressed with the packing of this thing. There was foam on all sides, thick cardboard protecting the edges, and plastic protecting the corners. There was no damage at all, even though I heard FedEx drop it from the truck. So nice of them. The combination is easy to program. First, you need to pop out the plastic cover to reveal the keyhole and open it with the key. Once open you can hit the reset button along the inside edge of the door and punch in your code. "I recently got the Blacksmith 3-5 rifle safe for storing my firearms securely. Three things caught my attention about this model, which I'll detail below.

“I've been on the hunt for a spacious and reliable safe, and this one fits the bill perfectly! It's sizable and fits comfortably in my walk-in closet.
